Kashmiri opera 'Shaam-e-Sama' held at SKICC

“Shaam-e-Sama” an opera of Kashmir’s ancient music and dance performances was presented for the first time on stage by at least 100 music, theater and media professionals from Valley.

The opera was synchronized with a special music and dance compositions with great lyrical renditions and fusion to give audience a feel of Kashmir that reached to its cultural and intellectual zenith during the times of Zain-ul-Abideen Budshah, a pro-people ruler of Kashmir.

The program showcased Hafiz Nagma—a traditional folk classical dance form of Kashmir composed over sufiyana, Raqs-e-Gule Lala—a musical opera narrating story of Gulrez in local folk form and folk basket with all time hit numbers in folk form.

Other items include a lyrical poem about the land of beauty Kashmir and its inhabitants, Raqs-e-Bahaar, a group performance and Raqs-e-Sama. In this a group of dancers in Sufi fusion attire set the stage on fire with moves and rhythms. This was performed by a group of 20 artists. Opera was culminated with a grand ACT by 50 plus artists on stage.

The show was a ‘Shaam-e-Sama’ is a part of the 3-day ‘Kashmir Spring Challenge Fest’ being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department from April 12.
